Multiple myeloma (MM)Multiple myeloma is a malignant tumour caused by the abnormal proliferation of plasma cells in the bone marrow that secrete monoclonal immunoglobulins or fragments thereof (M proteins), resulting in a variety of clinical manifestations including extensive bone destruction, recurrent infections, anaemia, hypercalcemia, hyperviscosity syndrome and renal insufficiency.
