Peristomal excoriation is defined as any problem of peristoml skin, including erosion, ulceration, or dermatitis that is adjacent to stoma. More than half of patients with ileostomy in the pediatric age group have peristomal skin excoriation, and additional therapy is required for peristomal skin (Sunil Kumar, 2014). Peristomal excoriation is more common with ileostomy due to liquid contents and digestive enzymes that damage the epithelium of the skin.
