Interventions

Self-directed ECG practice using the Socrative online quiz platform (Showbie Inc., USA) providing immediate automated answer feedback
unrestricted use of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini) for self-directed learning during practice
no faculty interaction during practice., Identical Socrative practice and AI tool access, plus structured real-time individualised faculty feedback during practice, including contextualised explanatio

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
ECG interpretation retention score at T4 (2-week retention test) T4: 2 weeks post-intervention ANCOVA-adjusted mean score on 30-item ECG interpretation test (% correct)—

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
ECG interpretation score at T2 (immediate post-AI practice) T2: immediately after AI practice session Mean score on 30-item ECG interpretation test (% correct),ECG interpretation score at T3 (post-feedback) T3: after faculty feedback session (Group B only) Mean score on 30-item ECG interpretation test (% correct),Time on task at T4 retention test T4: 2 weeks post-intervention Mean time (minutes) to complete the 30-item retention test,Student satisfaction with learning method T3: after intervention Satisfaction rating scale (Likert scale)—
