Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Weight-based gastric fluid volume Measured at baseline (pre-ingestion), 30, 60, 90, 120 minutes after ingestion of clear fluids Gastric ultrasonography is performed to measure the gastric antral cross-sectional area, which is then used to calculate the weight-based gastric fluid volume | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Gastric emptying time Within 1 to 2 hours after drinking clear fluids The time required for gastric fluid volume to return to baseline after ingestion of each type of clear fluid by gastric ultrasonography ,Self-reported hunger Measured at baseline (pre-ingestion) and at 30, 60, 90, 120 minutes after ingestion of clear fluids Using the question How intense is your hunger at the moment? with a numeric rating scale from 0 to 10, where 0 indicates no hunger and 10 indicates the most severe hunger.,Self-reported thirst Measured at baseline (pre-ingestion) and at 30, 60, 90, 120 minutes after ingestion of clear fluids Using the question How intense is your thirst at the moment? with a numeric rating scale from 0 to 10, where 0 indicates no hunger and 10 indicates the most severe hunger.,Taste of drinks After ingestion Asking how would you rate the taste of the drink on a 0 to 10 scale where 0 is best and 10 is worst. | — |
