Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Adult patients aged 18 years or older. 2. At least one outpatient encounter with a primary diagnosis of herpes zoster (ICD-10 code B02.xx) or one inpatient encounter with a primary or secondary diagnosis of herpes zoster (ICD-10 code B02.xx) between 2016 and 2024. Only the first herpes zoster episode during the study period will be included. 3. Diagnosis of herpes zoster identified using ICD-10 code B02.xx.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Subjects who meet any of the following criteria will be excluded from participation in this study: 1. Key demographic variables (age or sex) are missing 2. Patients had an HZ diagnosis revisit during study period.
