Conditions

Primary molar lesions requiring preformed metal crown restoration under general anesthesia Pediatric dentistry General anesthesia Preformed metal crown Artificial intelligence Tooth restoration

Interventions

Preoperatively predict preformed metal crown size via AI model based on CBCT and 3D scanning images, then adjust crown fitting intraoperatively.,Select preformed metal crown by clinical experience wit

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Children aged 3 to 6 years old, 2.pass anesthesiology assessment and tolerate general anesthesia, 3.diagnosed with primary molar caries requiring preformed metal crown restoration, and all dental treatments will be finished under general anesthesia in one session, 4.have at least one primary molar suitable for preformed metal crown repair, 5.complete preoperative imaging data including CBCT or three dimensional scanning records, 6.guardians provide written informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Primary teeth with physiological root resorption over one half or internal and external root resorption, 2.target teeth with severely damaged crown structure that cannot provide valid features for AI identification, 3.children unable to complete preoperative examinations, 4.guardians fail to understand and cooperate with follow up visits, 5.poor quality preoperative CBCT or three dimensional scanning images with severe artifacts, distortion or incomplete coverage for analysis, 6. patients with severe cardiopulmonary diseases, coagulation disorders, immune deficiency or other systemic illnesses that cannot tolerate general anesthesia and dental restoration.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Single crown selection time Intraoperative, during general anesthesia treatment Record the time consumed from reading imaging data to confirming crown size by stopwatch,Number of trial fittings Intraoperative Count the repeated trial fitting times of preformed metal crown during operation

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
6-month restoration success rate 6 months after operation Follow up and record adverse events including crown shedding, marginal leakage and secondary caries
