Interventions

Participants receive care based on a Clinical Nursing Practice Guideline developed from evidence based practice and the Ten Steps for Promoting and Protecting Breastfeeding for Vulnerable Infants. The

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Mothers aged 18 years or older. 2. Able to communicate and understand Thai language. 3. Willing to participate and provide written informed consent. 4. Intend to breastfeed through direct breastfeeding or expressed breast milk. 5. Physically and mentally capable of breastfeeding. 6. Mothers of preterm infants with gestational age below 37 weeks admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. 7. Registered nurses working in maternal and neonatal care units with at least 6 months of clinical experience and willing to participate.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Mothers with medical or psychiatric conditions that may interfere with breastfeeding or study participation. 2. Mothers using illicit drugs or medications contraindicated during breastfeeding. 3. Preterm infants transferred to another hospital during the study period. 4. Preterm infants with major congenital anomalies or genetic disorders affecting oral feeding ability. 5. Preterm infants with severe medical conditions preventing breastfeeding participation, including major gastrointestinal disorders requiring prolonged fasting or surgery, severe neurological impairment, or uncontrolled seizures. 6. Infants requiring specialized nutrition other than breast milk.
