Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Willingness to participate in the study and provision of informed consent, 2. Male patients aged 40 years and older, 3. A confirmed diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) by a pulmonologist or physician specialized in respiratory medicine. Participants were classified as having mild to moderate disease severity according to the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) 2025 criteria.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Participants with a body mass index greater than 30 kilograms per square meter, 2. Participants who experienced an acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease within the six weeks prior to the initiation of the exercise program, 3. Participants receiving long-term oxygen therapy for at least fifteen hours per day prior to the exercise program, including those with severe chronic resting hypoxia, defined as a partial pressure of arterial oxygen less than 55 millimeters of mercury or an oxygen saturation less than 88 percent, 4. Participants presenting with signs of hemodynamic instability, including hypotension, abnormal heart rate, shortness of breath, cold extremities, or peripheral cyanosis, 5. Participants with uncontrolled hypertension or resting blood pressure exceeding 200 over 110 millimeters of mercury, 6. Participants with cardiac arrhythmia, 7. Participants diagnosed with heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, aortic aneurysm, or presenting with chest pain, 8. Participants who have recently undergone abdominal surgery or cardiothoracic surgery, 9. Participants with musculoskeletal disorders, including scoliosis or severe osteoporosis, 10. Participants diagnosed with psychiatric disorders, 11. Participants diagnosed with acute rib fractures, 12. Participants with severe neurological conditions, such as brain injury, spinal cord injury, or peripheral nerve injury, 13. Participants who are unable to follow instructions.
