Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: (1) adults aged 50 years or older with chronic knee pain and baseline pain intensity of 4-6 on the Visual Analog Scale (2) ability to ambulate independently (3) willingness to discontinue non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and other analgesic treatments for at least 2 weeks before enrollment and (4) no contraindication to herbal use.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria were: (1) history of skin disease, contact dermatitis, or product-induced skin rash; (2) secondary causes of arthritis (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis or gouty arthritis); (3) prior knee replacement surgery or post-meniscectomy status; and (4) concomitant use of topical medications on the affected knee.
