Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: All mechanically ventilated children who were admitted to PICU were assessed. Patients were included if they presented the following criteria: (1) tidal volume of 8-10 ml/kg, (2) positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) of 5-6 cmH2O, (3) Absence of spontaneous breathing, and (4) Sinus rhythm.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1) sign of volume overload, (2) congenital heart disease, (3) anatomical anomalies of the neck, (4) contraindication for neck mobilization (such as post-op head and neck surgery, spinal cord injury), (5) suspected intracranial hypertension, (6) skin lesions or bandages at the sites of ultrasound examinations.
