Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adults aged 30 to 60 years with confirmed diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus for at least 6 months and HbA1c between 7 and 12 percent who were receiving stable antidiabetic therapy for at least 3 months were eligible. Participants had not previously used the study supplements Punica granatum or Peganum harmala and were willing to participate in the study and provide written informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with Type 1 diabetes or insulin dependent diabetes pregnancy or lactation active malignancy severe cardiovascular disease significant hepatic impairment renal impairment recent hospitalization for acute diabetic complications or presence of active diabetic infections such as foot or skin infections were excluded from the study.
