Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) diagnosis of CTS at Police General Hospital 2) failure of conservative management for at least 3 months, including oral medications, wrist splinting, and/or corticosteroid injection 3) agreement to undergo surgical treatment.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) prior ipsilateral wrist or carpal bone fracture or dislocation 2) previous ipsilateral carpal tunnel surgery 3) significant comorbidities including cervical disc herniation with radiculopathy, cubital tunnel syndrome, wrist joint arthritis, thoracic outlet syndrome, Buergers disease, hypothyroidism, or diabetes mellitus 4) thenar muscle weakness detected on preoperative physical examination 5) unwillingness or discomfort with study participation 6) cognitive impairment affecting ability to respond to questionnaires 7) inability or unwillingness to complete a minimum of 3 months of postoperative follow-up.
