Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Participants aged 18 to 23 years. 2. Systemically healthy individuals. 3. Presence of at least one pair of initial proximal caries lesions in permanent posterior teeth located in different quadrants (eligible for split mouth design). 4. Lesions confined to enamel and not extending beyond the enamel dentin junction, as assessed by digital bitewing radiographs at baseline. 5. Teeth without cavitation, restoration, sealant, or previous proximal treatment at the study site. 6. Participants willing to provide written informed consent and comply with study procedures and follow-up visits.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Participants with systemic diseases or medical conditions that could affect oral health or salivary flow. 2. Individuals undergoing orthodontic treatment involving the study teeth. 3. Teeth with cavitated lesions, dentinal involvement beyond the enamel dentin junction, restorations, sealants, or previous proximal treatment at the study site. 4. Teeth with signs or symptoms of pulpal or periapical pathology. 5. Poor-quality or unreadable baseline radiographs preventing accurate lesion assessment. 6. Known allergy or hypersensitivity to glass ionomer materials or any component of the study materials. 7. Pregnant or breastfeeding women (if required by ethics protocol). 8. Participants unwilling or unable to attend follow-up visits.
