Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.patients aged 18 years or older both male and female 2.admitted to icu receiving volume control mechanical ventilation with disposable ventilator circuit 3.expected to require mechanical ventilation for at least 48 hours 4.patient or legally authorized representative provides informed consent stable vital signs for at least 24 hours before enrollment

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.history of allergy to materials used in the innovation 2.severe respiratory tract infection 3.body temperature >38.5 c 4.expected extubation within 48 hours 5. unstable respiratory status requiring frequency ventilator setting changes 6.critical condition with high mortality risk within 48 hours

MeasureTime frame
water condensation volume in ventilator circuit measured every 2 hours for 7 days or untill extubation whichever comes first mean volume of water condensation measured in milliliters collected from ventilator circuit every 2 hours over 7 days
