Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Adults aged 18 years or older 2. Suspected pulmonary tuberculosis 3. Inability to expectorate sputum spontaneously OR negative initial spontaneous sputum acid-fast bacilli smear 4. Radiographic findings suggestive of pulmonary tuberculosis 5. Provision of written informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Hemodynamic instability 2. Severe hypoxemia defined as oxygen saturation less than 92 percent on room air 3. Pregnancy 4. Contraindications to bronchoscopy
