60 Years to No maximum

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Age 60 years or older with a diagnosis of fragility hip fracture. 2. Hip fracture resulting from low energy trauma. 3. Diagnosis of femoral neck fracture or intertrochanteric fracture. 4. Treatment with surgery, including arthroplasty or internal fixation. 5. Ability to ambulate independently before the fracture, with or without walking aids.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Hip fracture resulting from high energy trauma, open fracture, fracture dislocation, or severe polytrauma. 2. Pathological fracture due to tumor or periprosthetic fracture. 3. Presence of ipsilateral septic arthritis of the knee. 4. History of previous knee trauma or prior knee surgery. 5. Previous ipsilateral knee procedures including total knee arthroplasty, unicompartmental knee arthroplasty, or knee arthrodesis. 6. Active inflammatory arthritis with clinical symptoms such as pain, swelling, redness, or warmth of the knee within three months before the hip fracture. 7. Conditions that interfere with outcome assessment, including severe cognitive impairment or inability to communicate. 8. Refusal to participate in the study.

Incidence of postoperative knee inflammation At 6, 24, 48, and 72 hours after surgery. Clinical knee examination including swelling and warmth assessment, knee circumference measurement at the patella, and joint effusion by ballottement test.

Risk factors for postoperative knee inflammation Baseline at admission and postoperative period for risk factors; knee inflammation assessed at 24, 48, and 72 hours after surgery Baseline variables from records including demographics, comorbidity, fracture and surgery details, anesthesia type, with knee inflammation assessed by clinical exam.
