Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: - Individuals with the first stroke episode who could walk independently over at least 10m with or without a walking device from several communities within a developing country. - Age 40-75 years - Post-stroke onset longer than 6 months - Uncontrolled ankle movements due to plantarflexor spasticity with a Modified Ashworth Scale of <2 or ankle dorsiflexor muscle weakness.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Having other medical conditions that could affect the ability to participate in the study, such as - having unstable medical conditions - aphasia - bilateral hemiplegia - musculoskeletal, and/or neurogenic pain with a pain scale of at least 5 out of 10 on a visual analog scale - deformity in the joints of the lower extremities - other neurological diseases - inability to understand and complete the study protocols
