Conditions

To investigate the effect of CoQ10 prophylaxis on wound healing in patients who underwent orthognathic surgery Postoperative facial swelling Soft tissue regeneration Bone regeneration Functional capacity of the jaws

Interventions

The placebo tablets will be prescribed to participants for 2 weeks prior to the surgery.,CoQ10 oral supplement 300 mg/day will be prescribed to participants for 2 weeks prior to the surgery.

20 Years to 45 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Non-growing patients (20-45 years old) 2.Healthy status (American Society of Anesthesiologist (ASA) Class I ) 3.Undergoing orthognathic surgery using BSSO technique

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.History of allergy to medications used in this study 2.History of maxillofacial trauma 3.History of oral lesions or bony lesions 4.History of systemic diseases that influence wound healing and bone remodeling 5.Presence of periodontitis (probing pocket depth of more than 5 mm in different quadrants, having a minimum of six permanent teeth in each quadrant) 6.Currently receiving any kind of herbs and supplements 7.Being unable to attend follow-up appointments
