Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Case Group (Bipolar Disorder) 1.Patients diagnosed with bipolar disorder who had experienced or were currently experiencing a major depressive episode, according to the ICD10 and DSM5 diagnostic criteria. 2.Patients who were mentally alert and cognitively intact, and able to read, write, and communicate in Thai. 3.Patients aged 18 to 60 years. Control Group (Unipolar Depressive Disorder) 1.Patients diagnosed with major depressive disorder. 2.Patients who were mentally alert and cognitively intact, and able to read, write, and communicate in Thai. 3.Patients aged 18 to 60 years.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Exclusion Criteria Case Group (Bipolar Disorder) 1.Patients with psychiatric or medical emergencies requiring immediate treatment. 2.Patients diagnosed with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, neurodevelopmental disorders (including intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder), neurocognitive disorders (including delirium and dementia), stroke, or traumatic brain injury. 3.Patients who were currently experiencing psychotic symptoms. 4.Patients with current substance use, including alcohol, cannabis, methamphetamine, tobacco/nicotine, opioids and their derivatives, hallucinogens, or inhalants, or those who had ceased substance use within the past one month. Control Group (Unipolar Depressive Disorder) 1.Patients with a history of manic or hypomanic episodes not attributable to antidepressant treatment, diagnosed according to ICD10 and DSM5 criteria. 2.Patients with psychiatric or medical emergencies requiring immediate treatment. 3.Patients diagnosed with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, neurodevelopmental disorders (including intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder), neurocognitive disorders (including delirium and dementia), stroke, or traumatic brain injury. 4.Patients who were currently experiencing psychotic symptoms. 5.Patients with current substance use, including alcohol, cannabis, methamphetamine, tobacco/nicotine, opioids and their derivatives, hallucinogens, or inhalants, or those who had ceased substance use within the past one month.
