Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Have less than 15% of CVD risk, according to the Framingham Risk Equation. 2. Have at least one of the following conditions: systolic blood pressure of 130-160 mmHg, total cholesterol of 200-240 mg/dL, fasting blood glucose of 100-125 mg/dL, BMI greater than 25, or waist circumference greater than 90 cm for males or greater than 80 cm for females.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Presence of chronic diseases. 2. BMI greater than 40. 3. Current or recent (within the previous 6 months) significant weight loss or gain (more than 6% of body weight) or actively trying to lose weight. 4. Use of BP-lowering, blood glucose-lowering, or cholesterol-lowering medication. 5. Pregnant or breastfeeding women. 6. People with psychiatric disorders.
