Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes mellitus according to the American Diabetes Association criteria before the age of 18 years 2. Duration of diabetes >1 year 3. Regularly follow up at KKU or KKH hospital for at least 1 year before enrollment

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Incomplete medical records 2. Serum creatinine more than 1.5 mg/dL 3. HbA1c more than 13% 4. Hypertension, defined as systolic or diastolic blood pressure above 95th percentile for age, sex, and height, or more than 130/80 mmHg in children aged equal or above 13 years 5. Presence of conditions or diseases affecting heart rate variability (HRV) or HRV measurement, such as heart failure, arrhythmias (including atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, premature atrial contraction, premature ventricular contraction, junctional or ventricular rhythm, 2nd/3rd degree AV block, sinus bradycardia, sinus pause/arrest) 6. Having a pacemaker and being totally pacemaker-dependent 7. Use of ACE inhibitors, ARBs, ARNIs, SGLT2 inhibitors, GLP-1 agonists, or calcium channel blockers within the past 3 months 8. Conditions or diseases affecting pulse wave velocity (PWV) (except dyslipidemia), such as acute high fever within the past 2 weeks, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) within the past 2 weeks, or severe hypoglycemia (plasma glucose less than 55 mg/dL) within the past 3 days 9. Use of medications that affect PWV and HRV, including systemic corticosteroids, immunosuppressants, non-insulin antidiabetic drugs, atypical antipsychotics, beta-blockers, digitalis, theophylline, tricyclic antidepressants, anti-arrhythmic drugs, or atropine within the past 1 month
