Conditions

The premature infants with a gestational age of 34 to 36 weeks 6 days who receive heel prick for blood sugar measurement. The pain responses, heart rate, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation between groups will be evaluated before, during, and after the procedure. Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. It is necessary to perform heel prick blood glucose monitoring according to the physician treatment plan, in order to measure blood glucose levels at least twice, with an interval of at least 3 hours. Each infant will undergo blood glucose monitoring at different times depending on the physician treatment plan. The blood samples for glucose monitoring will be obtained by heel prick before feeding times at 05.00, 08.00, 11.00, 14.00, 17.00, 20.00, 23.00, or 02.00 as prescribed by the physician. 2. The results of newborn hearing screening using otoacoustic emission were normal in both ears. The screening was performed shortly after birth, prior to the experimental procedure, and repeated when the infant reached 48 hours of age. 3. The infant vital signs were within normal limits before the experimental procedure, measured 3 minutes prior to the intervention about heart rate 100 to 160 beats per minute, respiratory rate 40 to 60 breaths per minute, and oxygen saturation equal or more than 90%. 4. The mother provided informed consent for her infant participation in the study after being fully informed about the research details and signing the consent form.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Presence of chromosomal abnormalities, congenital anomalies, or congenital infections. 2. Presence of neurological disorders affecting behavioral pain response, including seizures or intraventricular hemorrhage. 3. Receiving oxygen therapy or mechanical ventilation. 4. Administration of sedatives, analgesics, or cardiotonic drugs within 48 hours prior to heel prick blood glucose testing
