Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Male Adolescents, Aged 15 to 19 years, Smoked at least one cigarette per day for the past 30 days, Self-reported desire to quit smoking, and wants to help quit smoking, Using WhatsApp at least one day of the week, Adolescents require informed consent /Assent consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Female adolescents Adolescents younger than 15 or older than 19 years Those who have not smoked at least one cigarette per day in the past 30 days Adolescents with no desire or intention to quit smoking Not using WhatsApp at least once a week

Primary

MeasureTime frame
feasibility and acceptability of the intervention 1,3 and 6 month follow up a) the ability to achieve target enrollment rates, b) treatment completion rates, c) retention rates for follow-up assessments, and d) treatment satisfaction.

Smoking Cessation Activities 1, 3 and 6 month follow up a) Quit attempt, b) quit rates as self-reported 7-day point prevalence abstinence confirmed by carbon monoxide readings c) Reduced number of cigarettes smoked per day, and the number of days smoked. ,Cognitive and Psychosocial Mediators 1,3 and 6 month follow up a) Nicotine dependence, b) Readiness to quitting, c) Self-efficacy, d) Social support, e) Stress, and f) Ability to resist peer pressure to smoke, g) Motivation to quit smoking.
