Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Adults age 18 to 75 years old, 2. Post-cardiac surgery patients who underwent median sternotomy at Phramongkutklao Hospital and enrolled in an outpatient (phase II) cardiac rehabilitation program within 4 weeks after surgery, 3. Provided written informed consent to participate, 4. Able to perform the six-minute walk test (6MWT) and to participate safely in the IMT training program during the study period

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Contraindications to exercise testing as per American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) criteria e.g., ECG abnormalities at rest indicating ischemia, recent myocardial infarction (within the past 2 days), unstable angina, uncontrolled arrhythmias, severe aortic stenosis, acute heart failure, fever or acute infection, resting blood pressure more than 200/110 mmHg, high-grade AV block, 2. Musculoskeletal or orthopedic conditions that preclude exercise, 3. Significant psychiatric, mood, or cognitive disorders that would interfere with exercise participation, 4. Chronic lung disease or other comorbidity that would impair the ability to perform the training
