Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.) Age at least 20 years 2.) Diagnosis with diabetes 3.) Elevate serum lactate level (over 4 mmol/L) within 12 hours before and after admission. 4.) High anion gap metabolic acidosis

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.) Chronic kidney disease stages 4 and 5 (Baseline GFR below 30 mL/min/1.73 m2) 2.) No document baseline creatinine within 365 days 3.) Death within 24 hours after admission 4.) Other causes of metabolic acidosis (eg. Ketoacidosis, toxin induce metabolic acidosis) 5.) Admission due to trauma 6.) Receiving immunosuppressive drug (eg. Prednisolone at least 15 mg/day) 7.) Pregnancy 8.) Kidney transplant status 9.) The lack of data on prehospitalization medication for diabetes
