Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. All Thai patients presenting with Thyrotoxic periodic paralysis by the definition of transient paralytic attack observed by a physician with Hypokalemia during the paralytic attacks with (serum potassium level: <3.5 mmol/l) and presence of hyperthyroidism confirmed by thyroid function tests from King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital and Queen Savang Vadhana Memorial Hospital (Thai Red Cross society hospitals) in 5 year period
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients who already had a neurological deficit before the attack 2. Patients who took diuretics for the treatment of other medical diseases 3. Patients who were referred from other hospitals after medical treatment 4. Patients who had impaired renal function (GFR < 60 ml/min/1.73 m2) were also excluded.
