Conditions

Participants diagnosed with fibromyalgia based on the American College of Rheumatology preliminary diagnostic criteria 2010 at Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital. fibromyalgia

Interventions

Participants in the experimental group (active tDCS) received anodal stimulation at the primary motor cortex (M1) based on the 10/20 EEG system, at an intensity of 2 mA for a duration of 20 minutes. A
thereafter, the current was discontinued for the remaining 20 minutes despite the machine being powered on.

20 Years to 65 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Thai nationals 2. aged between 20 and 65 years 3. diagnosed with fibromyalgia according to the American College of Rheumatology's preliminary diagnostic criteria for 2010. 4. pain intensity level of at least 4 out of 10 on the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). 5. Not have altered their medication regimen within the preceding month

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Severe depression, as determined by the Thai Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) score of 11 or higher. 2. The presence of other non-cerebrovascular disorders such as brain tumors or injuries. 3. Unstable medical conditions (e.g., uncontrolled arrhythmia, acute coronary syndrome, congestive heart failure, end-stage renal disease, pneumonia, urinary tract infections). 4. Using of neurostimulators (e.g., vagus nerve stimulators, deep brain stimulators). 5. Possession of a pacemaker, metal implants in the skull or ear. 6. history of epilepsy or seizures within the past year 7. history of substance abuse 8. pregnancy 9. previous treatment with repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) or Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS).
