Eligibility

Age
18 Years to 50 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1 Age 18 years or above 2 Gestational age between 35-37 weeks 3 Obesity (body mass index above 27.5 at first antenatal visit) 4 First antenatal visit at gestational age less than 24 weeks 5 Singleton pregnancy with live fetus 6 Cephalic presentation 7 No contraindication for vaginal delivery such as active genital tract infection 8 No indication for cesarean section 9 Voluntary participation in the research study

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1 Fetal compromise such as fetal bradycardia 2 Severe obstetric complications such as placental abruption, eclampsia 3 Estimated fetal weight greater than 4000 grams at gestational age 38-40 weeks[18] 4 HIV infection or other infections that can cause vertical transmission 5 Active labor or premature rupture of membranes 6 Contraindication for vaginal examination such as placenta previa 7 Subject refuses membrane sweeping for labor induction
