Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Hospitalized patients more than 18 years of age 2. Acute or chronic renal failure that required hemodialysis treatment through a newly inserted temporary hemodialysis catheter at an internal jugular and femoral site

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with catheters at sites other than internal jugular or femoral site 2. Patients with suspected or proven heparin-induced thrombocytopenia 3. Patients with hypocalcemia ( serum total calcium < 8.4 mg/dL ) within 3 days before enrollment 4. Patients with expected length of stay in hospital less than 7 days 5. Patients with suspected or proven allergies to heparin or TSC 6. Pregnancy and lactation 7. Patients who were unwilling to give informed consent 8. Patients who have already been enrolled in this study previously
