18 Years to 65 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Age 18-65 years old 2. ASA physical status II-III 3. Essential hypertension patients with well controlled hypertension 4. Scheduled for elective surgery under general anesthesia with direct laryngoscopy and endotracheal tube intubation without neuraxial anesthesia or peripheral nerve block 6. Peripheral vascular disease, heart disease 7. Impaired kidney function, GFR < 30 or ESRD 8. Blood pressure (BP) baseline > 140/90 mmHg 9. Diabetes mellitus with autonomic neuropathy 10. Expected duration of the operation shorter than 90 minutes 11. Rapid sequenced induction (RSI) technique is indicated.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Anticipated difficult airway 2. Received anti-hypertensive drugs including beta-blocker, non-dihydropyridine CCB 3. Preoperatively opioids usage or abuse 4. Obesity BMI > 30 5. Pregnancy
