Conditions

This study focuses on dementia and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in older adults. Dementia is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by cognitive decline, memory impairment, and changes in behavior, affecting daily living activities. MCI is considered an intermediate stage between normal cognitive aging and dementia, where patients exhibit noticeable cognitive decline but do not yet meet the criteria for dementia. This group consists of patients diagnosed with dementia or mild cognitive impairment (MCI) who have been prescribed cholinesterase inhibitors (ChEIs), including donepezil, galantamine, or rivastigmine

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The inclusion criteria are: (i) age 60 and older. (ii) diagnosed with either dementia or mild cognitive impairment. (iii) had HR records during outpatient appointments scheduled at 3, 6, or 12-month intervals, with a two-week window around those dates.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: . The exclusion criteria are: (i) HR records are less than three records during the six months before the reference date. (iii) patients with preexisting bradycardia, defined as a baseline heart rate (BHR), calculated by mean value of HR record during 6-month-period before reference, less than 60 beats per minute (bpm), and (iv) those with BHR exceeding 120 bpm.
