Conditions

In Thailand, there may be limitations in sending for MRI/MRA brain in some places. Some physicians consider sending for MRI/MRA brain when there are indications that (1) intractable HFS that does not respond to treatment with botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) injections and or (2) patient has associated neurological symptoms and signs such as a clicking sound in the ear, hearing loss, ataxia, or weakness. Previous study has found that the severity of NVC during the microvascular decompression (MVD)

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients older than 18 years 2. Clinical diagnosis of hemifacial spasm

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Pregnancy of lactating women 2. Patients who received botulinum toxin type A injection within 12 weeks. 3. Patients who had previous microvascular decompression surgery.
