Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. In the bone grafting group, subjects must have bone grafting using xenograft. 2. All of subjects must have implant placements using The Straumann Dental Implant, Basel, Switzerland. 3. A period of at least 3 months between extraction and implant placement. 4. All of subjects must have enough excess soft tissue after implant placement that can be collected without interfering the normal treatment protocol.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. The risk factors that affect soft tissue inflammation including uncontrolled diabetes, uncontrolled periodontal disease, previously peri-implantitis, or smoking. 2. Use of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, or local antimicrobial agents within the former 6 months. 3. Subjects that do not have enough excess soft tissue after implant placement which the collecting process will interfere the normal treatment protocol.
