Conditions

The prevalence of type 1 diabetes (T1D) in youth is rising globally. However, only 20-30% of children and adolescents with T1D achieve glycemic control, increasing their risk of long-term complications. The SEARCH study has shown that youth with T1D often have subclinical cardiovascular disease (CVD), evidenced by increased carotid intima media thickness and pulse wave velocity (PWV). Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes per American Diabetes Association criteria, 2. Age at diagnosis equal or less than 18 years, 3. Diabetes duration of more than 1 year, 4. Regular follow up at Pediatric Diabetes Clinic, KKU hospital

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. HbA1c more than 13%, 2. Creatinine more than 1.5 mg/dL, 3. Smoking, 4. Hypertension, 5. Receive medications that affect insulin resistance or arterial function, such as systemic/inhale glucocorticoids, oral antihyperglycemic drug, immunosuppressive drugs, and atypical antipsychotic drugs, in the 2 months, 5. Pregnancy, 6. Lactation, 7. Incomplete medical record, 8. Diabetic ketoacidosis in the past 2 months, 9. Other chronic illness affecting arterial function
