Interventions

Oral hygiene instructions (OHI) and motivation sessions were given to each patient. OHIs were reinforced during each treatment session and follow-up visits. The treatment protocol was as follows
supragingival and subgingival mechanical instrumentation of the root surface was performed by a single periodontist (SB), using both hand (Gracey Periodontal Currettes (Hu-Friedy)) and ultrasonic inst

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: aged 25 and above, systemically healthy and lifelong non smokers ,at least had 20 teeth, diagnosis of moderate-advanced periodontitis

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: pregnant or lactating females, had a diagnosis of any systemic disease as diabates, had removable prosthesis and had undergone periodontal treatment or used antibiotics in the last 6 months.
