Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Term pregnant women, admitted for delivery who were at high risk for neonatal asphyxia at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Srinakharinwirot University Hospital, Thailand
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: declined participation, could not read or write in Thai, unexpected intrauterine fetal death, inability to collect umbilical cord blood according to the standard method, and samples with uninterpretable laboratory results were exclude from this study
