Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Knee osteoarthritis patients aged 50 to 80, whose serum vitamin D levels were below 30 ng/mL were the study's intended participants.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Participants who had had recently undergone knee surgery or who had a history of malignant chronic diseases, such as advanced liver or renal disease, arthritis, protracted knee injury, persistent knee infection, inflammation, or who had used vitamin D supplements within the previous month were excluded. Remarkably, patients who were lost to follow-up or who received treatment beyond clinical palliations fulfil the withdrawal criteria.
