Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Age greater than or equal to 50 years old 2.Knee osteoarthritis Kellgren-Lawrence (KL) grade 3 or 4 3.Undergoing unilateral primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Known allergy to the drugs used in this trial. 2.Previous surgery on the affected limb within 1 year. 3.Major co-morbidity precluding aerobic exercise at 50- 60% maximum heart rate 4.Decreased mobility due to non-joint-related factors e.g. Parkinson disease 5. Inability to communicate or unwilling to give informed consent
