Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. adult patient (age at least 18-year-old) 2. treat by the surgery department, Thammasart University hospital 3. retained closed system abdominal drain(Jackson-pratt drain or Fortune drain) and planned to remove 4. able to understand Thai and speak Thai 5. agree to join the research 6. had midline incision surgery or laparoscopic surgery
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. do not want to give information 2. unable to answer time/place/person clearly 3. history of abdominal drain removal 4. allergy to lidocaine 5. pregnancy or breastfeeding 6. abnormal pain perception 7. receive pain killer within 24 hours 8. receive the intravenous sedative drug within 48 hours 9. skin lesions around drain such as infection dermatitis burn or wound 10. UD stroke or paralysis 11. unable to contact colds such as Raynaud's syndrome
