Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1) having been diagnosed with T2DM more than six months before recruitment to the study, 2) having a history of HbA1c > 7.5% within the previous three months, 3) having been received only oral glucose lowering medications, 4) having inappropriate food literacy with a score below 31 score out of 52 score as evaluated by Short Food Literacy Questionnaire Thai version of Panuthai et al. (2019) which was translated from the English version developed by Grea Krause and colleagues (Grea Krause et al., 2018). 5) having good cognitive function with at least 8 points from 10 evaluated by the Mental State Questionnaire (SPMSQ) Thai version of the Chiang Mai Public Health Office (2018), 6) being able to care for self with a score of at least 12 points from 20 evaluated by the Barthel Activities of Daily Living: ADL Thai version of the Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health (2014). 7) being able to read and write in Thai, and 8) being willing to participate in the study.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: having been diagnosed with a mental disorder such as schizophrenia, major depression, or mood disorders as identified in medical record.
