Adult tuberculosis patients who have already been registered for TB treatment at two TB centres (Thailand and Myanmar) in the Shoklo Malaria Research Unit (SMRU) ,Adult relatives of TB index cases
they have been screened for TB and diagnosed as no TB

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Males and females, aged 18 years and older - Either a patient who has been registered for Anti-TB treatment at either one of SMRUtwo TB clinics or relatives of SMRU registered TB patients - Willing to comply with study procedures, including residing in the TB centre or nearby for the period of TB treatment - Can understand information about the study and provide written informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Patient has already been enrolled for TB treatment at other treatment centres or study sites - Critically ill-patients clinically judged by the investigators

Measure serum vitamin A (retinol) in TB patients (on treatment) and their relatives One-time assessment at the time of survey Serum retinol (vitamin A) concentration (micromol/L)
