Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: phosphate level above 6.51 mg/dL (age 2-5 years old); above 5.8 mg/dL (age 6-12 years old); or above 4.6 mg/dL (age 13-18 years old)
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. currently on hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis 2. estimated glomerular filtration rate less than 15 ml/min/1.73 m2 3. serum magnesium level above 2.5 mg/dL 4. allergic to magnesium supplementation 5. history of severe gastrointestinal disease
