Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: COPD patients, all severity (mild, moderate, severe and very severe), as defined by the Global Initiative for Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) guidelines (2) with forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1)/forced vital capacity (FVC) ratio < 0.7 will be recruited if they meet the following criteria: 1) Age between 40-80 years old; 2) Stable conditions, i.e. no acute exacerbation, change in pharmacological therapy, or hospital admission in the past 1 month; 3) Good ability to communicate and follow instructions.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Subjects of either group will be excluded from this study if they meet the following criteria: 1) History of diabetes mellitus, cardiac arrhythmias, lung cancer, or mental disorder; 2) Alcoholism and/or current smoker; 3) Musculoskeletal or neurological abnormalities, such as stroke, upper limb or lower limb injuries; 4) Acute conditions, such as fever, uncontrolled hypertension.
