18 Years to 80 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients age 18-80 year Severe secondary hyperparathyroidism i.e. persistently elevated PTH values > 800 pg/ml for > 6 months, serum calcium >10.2 mg/dl, phosphorus > 5.5 mg/dl, presence of calciphylaxis, or erythropoietin-resistant anemia who fail to respond to medical therapy.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Previous thyroid or parathyroid surgery Previous neck irradiation Unable to identify at least 4 parathyroids.

Design outcomes

Primary

parathyroid hormone level 1st, 3rd, 6th, 12th, and 18th month after surgery serum parathyroid hormone

reoperative rate 6th, 12th, and 18th month number of reoperation due to persist/recurrent hyperparathyroidism
