5 years of age who presented with acute diarrhea will randomly assiged to receive a matching placebo which is identical in appearance ans texture to the intervention group. ,Children one month&#45
5 years of age who presented with acute diarrhea will randomly assiged to receive L. reuteri DSM 17928 at a dose of 100&#44
000 colony&#45
forming units once daily for 5 days.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Children aged 1 moth-5 years presented with acute diarrhea

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Major systemic illness 2. commence on antibiotics 2 weeks prior to the study 3. received probiotics or anti-diarrheal drugs 2 weeks prior to the study 4. severe malnutrition
