Patients aged 40–65 years who had type 2 Diabetes for at least 2 years since diagnosis with a glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) level of 7.5%–10% type 2 Diabetes who had inadequate glycaemic control

receive diacerein 50 mg once&#45
daily for 12 weeks,receive placebo tablets once&#45

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Type 2 Diabetes for at least 2 years since diagnosis with a glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) level of 7.5%–10%

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients who had chronic inflammatory disease&#44; chronic steroid use&#44; serum creatinine level >2 mg/dL or eGFR <60 ml/min/1.73 m2/day&#44; aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels more than three times the upper normal limit
