Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: cirrhotic patients presenting with upper gastrointestinal bleeding who underwent esophagograstroduodenoscopy within 24 hours after symptom presentation.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. underlying disease of neurological disease 2. presence of hepatic encephalopathy at the time of admission 3. history of lactulose usage within 6 weeks before 4. severe co-morbidity such as acute kidney injury, active cardiopulmonary disease 5. history of alcohol ingestion within 7 days before
