Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Age 18 yr or more No difficult venous catheter insertion both dorsum of hands Admit 1 day or more before surgery ASA physical status 1-3 Written inform consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Neurological disorders and abnormal perception of skin Disease which affects the perception of skin such as diabetes Abnormal skin lesion on the dorsum of the hand such as ulcers, scars, swelling Contraindication for venous catheter insertion on the dorsum of the hands such as axillary lymph node dissection, AVBG, SVC obstruction Allergy to lidocaine, prilocaine, and preservatives Unable to communicate Patient refusing
