Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Age > 18 years old Diagnosed of sepsis, severe sepsis and septic shock according to 1992 criteria. Admission to medical wards, a respiratory care unit or a medical intensive care unit less than 48 Intubation and on nasogastric tube. Receive antibiotic less than 48 hours. Able to receive enteral feeding.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Terminally ill patients. Pregnancy. Diarrhea or hematochezia. Short bowel disease. History of allergy to milk or soybean. Contraindication to enteral feeding. Immunocompromised (AIDS, malignant hemopathy, neutrophil count less than 500 per mm3, cytostatic chemotherapy during the past 3 months, before ICU admission)
