Interventions

The program based on the grocery shopping process components defined the previous study aims to recover by improving the shopping skills of patients with chronic schizophrenia living in communities (H
2002). The first component is a search strategy guided by internal or external memory to search for goods. When shopping at a familiar store&#44
search strategy could be mainly implemented by internal memory&#44
making decisions with minimal effort. On the contrary&#44
if people are not familiar with a placement of merchandise in a store&#44
search strategy is performed by external memory&#44
which requires considerable effort (Hamera and Brown&#44
2002). The second component is the time spent on shopping. Factors that influence decision&#45
making include time constraints and time pressure that increase arousal or stress level (Isenber&#44
1981)&#44
impeding search strategy needed to remind familiar information. If people feel time pressure&#44
they might not be able to accurately understand a store environment and find favorite products&#44
which increase chances of changing the products. The third is a higher level of executive function that allows people to organize and plan the first and the second components, conventional rehabilitati
social skill training&#44
and social adaptation training
